Big Dates

We all have important dates and times in our life. It could be the day we graduate from school. It could be the day we get married. Maybe our birthday or even the major holidays are more important than other dates on the calendar. For someone that suffered a loss, that date could be a source of pain for many years to come.

What we have done is use these days as a badge that we made it. We made it another year, another Christmas, another birthday, another day, week. Whatever those times are to you celebrate those days as an accomplishment. Losing someone you loved is never easy and we should use these times to be happy.

We have all heard people say that the person we lost would have wanted us to be happy. But I say you need to be happy for yourself. Sometimes we stay at home and just are together as a family. Then other times we go to the cemetery and spend it at the grave site. We all have different ways to celebrate but celebrate is what we should do in the months and years after a loss.
